At Tatta Bio (www.tatta.bio), we are developing genomic intelligence. Our mission is to revolutionize the way scientists interact with genomic information. We are a nonprofit startup dedicated to advancing open-source artificial intelligence models and tools to accelerate biology research. We’re now developing SeqHub, a Github-like platform for scientists with an anticipated public launch in Q4-2025.

As our Founding Engineer, you will make core decisions about our technology and infrastructure, working at the intersection of AI and biology.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale the backend for our genomic intelligence platform.
• Own the entire development lifecycle, and make key decisions on tech stack and infra.
• Collaborate directly with frontend engineers, machine learning scientists and biologists.
• Take on new engineering initiatives as they arise, adapting quickly to evolving priorities and helping shape technical direction across the stack as the company grows.

Experience Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record of building and scaling backend systems from scratch (0-to-1 experience).
• Deep expertise in building robust, scalable backend services.
• Experience designing scalable architectures and databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, vector databases).
• Experience with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP) and modern infrastructure.
• Experience building consumer-facing applications.
• Product-minded approach to building in an early-stage environment.
• (Nice to have) Experience building scientific software.

Additional Notes

• This position is based in Cambridge, MA, with a flexible hybrid work setup (a combination of in-office and remote work).
• Compensation will be competitive and based on experience.
